Liberty Democratic Association of The Bronx Endorses Cuomo for Mayor

Governor Andrew Cuomo, candidate for Mayor of New York City, today announced the endorsement of the Liberty Democratic Association. Founded in 2006 and located in the 80th Assembly District, the club promotes the principles of the Democratic Party and looks to provide a strong and active democratic organization in the Northeast section of the Bronx.

Cuomo also received the endorsement of Ardhmir Malziu, the democratic club President and a Democratic District Leader in the 80th Assembly District. Elected at 24 years old in June 2024, he is currently the youngest Democratic District Leader in the Bronx. His support of Cuomo follows the endorsement of Assembly Member John Zaccaro, Jr., who represents that community.

“As Male Democratic District Leader of the 80th Assembly District and President of the Liberty Democratic Association, I’m proud to stand with Andrew Cuomo in his campaign for Mayor,” said Ardhmir Malziu. “Our city needs proven leadership, and we believe Governor Cuomo’s experience and vision make him the right choice to lead New York City forward.”

This endorsement follows other Bronx elected officials who have endorsed Cuomo for Mayor, including Rep. Ritchie Torres, Rep. Adriano Espaillat, former Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., Assembly Member Yudelka Tapia, Assembly Member George Alvarez, and Assembly Member Michael Benedetto.
Throughout his career in public service, Governor Cuomo has been a champion for working New Yorkers. He raised wages for millions and protected the right to organize when the Supreme Court tried to break the back of the labor movement. Governor Cuomo increased access to healthcare, enacted the nation's strongest paid family leave program and expanded apprenticeships, vocational training, and workforce development programs. He also advanced the most substantial infrastructure program in a generation, including the Second Avenue Subway, the Moynihan Train Hall and the new Kosciuszko Bridge and the new JFK and LaGuardia Airports – all major projects built with union labor.

The Liberty Democratic Association joins the Democratic Organization of Queens County and its Chairman Rep. Gregory W. Meeks, former New York State Comptroller Carl McCall, New York State Senator Roxanne Persaud,  New York State Senator Toby Ann Stavisky, New York State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo Jr., New York State Senator James Sanders Jr., Brooklyn Democratic Chair and Assembly Member Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn, Assembly Member Stacey Pheffer Amato, Assembly Member Sam Berger, Assembly Member Vivian Cook, Assembly Member David Weprin, Assembly Member Edward Braunstein, Assembly Member Clyde Vanel, Assembly Member Alicia Hyndman, Assembly Member Charles Fall, Assembly Member Eddie Gibbs, Assembly Member Latrice Walker, Assembly Member Erik Dilan, Assembly Member Jordan Wright, Assembly Member William Colton, Assembly Member Manny De Los Santos, Council Member Lynn Schulman, Council Member Selvena Brooks-Powers, Council Member Kamillah Hanks, Council Member Farah N.
