IBEW Local 3 Endorses Andrew Cuomo for Mayor of NYC at Labor Day Parade

New York, NY — IBEW Local 3, one of the most storied and respected labor unions in New York, consisting of over 29,000 members, today announced its endorsement of Andrew M. Cuomo for Mayor of New York City. The endorsement was made public at the annual Labor Day Parade, where working men and women from across the city gather to celebrate the strength and contributions of the labor movement.

IBEW Local 3 and Governor Cuomo share a long history of partnership in building a stronger, fairer New York. From major infrastructure projects like the modernization of LaGuardia Airport and the expansion of the Javits Center, to advancing prevailing wage protections, standing on picket lines together, and ensuring union labor was central to rebuilding New York’s economy, Cuomo and IBEW Local 3 have worked hand-in-hand for decades.

Together, they have championed good-paying union jobs, fought to expand worker protections, and stood up to corporate interests that threatened fair wages and benefits. This history of collaboration has strengthened not only the union movement in New York, but also the city’s economy and middle class.

“IBEW Local 3 has always been more than just a union—it has been a force for fairness, dignity, and opportunity for working families,” said Cuomo. “This endorsement is deeply meaningful to me because we have walked this road together for decades. From building airports, bridges, and tunnels, to standing up for fair wages and safe working conditions, IBEW Local 3 has been at the heart of New York’s progress. Labor plays an essential role in our city and our nation, and I will never stop fighting to ensure unions remain strong, respected, and central to building the New York of tomorrow.”

“Strong trade unions are the path to the middle class and economic security for working men and women, and Andrew Cuomo has stood hand in hand with unions for decades,” said IBEW Local 3 Business Manager Christopher Erikson.

“Andrew is the best candidate to ensure NYC’s stability and to raise the standards for all working people,” continued Erikson. “He will build on his track record of raising wages, increasing access to healthcare, enacting the nation’s strongest paid family leave program, expanding apprenticeships and workforce development programs, and building unions to create more opportunities for New Yorkers to join the middle class.  Neither DSA nor socialism is the answer for NYC or America. Andrew Cuomo is a champion for working men and women, and that’s why Local 3 is proud to endorse him for Mayor of New York City.”
