Governor Cuomo Receives Endorsement of Crown Jewish United and the Crown Heights PAC
3rd Orthodox Jewish Community to Endorse Cuomo for Mayor
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, candidate for Mayor of New York City, today received the endorsement of Crown Jewish United and the Crown Heights PAC, one of the largest Orthodox communities in Brooklyn. This marks the third Orthodox Jewish community to endorse Cuomo, joining the Far Rockaway Jewish Alliance and the Bobov community in Borough Park in backing Cuomo’s bid.
Statement from Crown Jewish United and the Crown Heights PAC Endorsing Andrew Cuomo for Mayor: “Crown Jewish United and the Crown Heights PAC are joining forces to offer a unified endorsement of Andrew Cuomo as our #1 choice for Mayor in the upcoming primary.
“In the past, our groups have endorsed different candidates. But this year, one of the contenders is openly promoting anti-Semitic rhetoric, supports the BDS movement, threatened to arrest Prime Minister Netanyahu if he visits New York, and chose to attack Israel instead of condemning Hamas on October 8, 2023- while the deadliest massacre of Jews by Hamas in modern history was still unfolding. We believe it is vital to stand together and speak with one voice. Andrew Cuomo is the only candidate who can stop Zohran Mamdani in the primary.”
“I am incredibly honored to receive this endorsement of Crown Jewish United and the Crown Heights PAC,” Governor Cuomo said. “I have a deep and longstanding relationship with this tight-knit community that goes back decades, beginning when I first met the Grand Rebbe with my father, and I know it will continue for years to come as we partner to make New York City safer and stronger for everyone. As Governor, I worked to bolster to safeguard Jewish institutions, funded security initiatives to protect synagogues and yeshivas, and signed the first in the nation anti-BDS law. Antisemitism and public safety are on the ballot this June, and when I am elected as Mayor, I will continue to partner with the Orthodox community to fight antisemitism, not only with words, but with action, and proudly stand shoulder to shoulder with my Jewish brothers and sisters.”
