Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, candidate for Mayor of New York City, delivered remarks to nearly one thousand New Yorkers at the Longwood Avenue Annual Summer Concert, hosted by Council Member Rafael Salamanca. In his remarks, Cuomo called on New Yorkers to vote, highlighting his commitment to the Bronx, public safety, and his longtime solidarity with Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic.

A transcript of the remarks is below:

I am looking for Bad Bunny because they told me if I came, I could perform with Bad Bunny. No Bad Bunny? Alright.

I love the Bronx, I love the people of the Bronx, and the truth is the Bronx has not gotten its fair share for too long. The City has overlooked many of the issues in the Bronx. We need affordable housing in the Bronx for people who live in the Bronx, not for people to move into the Bronx. We need the streets safe once again, we need the streets clean once again, we need New York to be New York once again—because we are better than this.

We’re going to make the Big Apple shine, but we should be very proud of how we’ve always stood with Puerto Rico. Whenever Puerto Rico needed anything after Hurricane Maria, hundreds and hundreds of people came down to Puerto Rico and helped them. We brought Con Edison down to Puerto Rico. When the Dominican Republic had the hurricane, we all went to the Dominican Republic. That is the heart. That is the cortisone. We love Puerto Rico. We love the Dominican Republic. New York stands united with them forever.

I need your vote this Election Day. I need you. I need you. I need you to go to the polls. I will not let you down, but I need you to vote first.

Thank you, and God bless.
