Governor Cuomo Calls on All Mayoral Candidates to Denounce Zohran Mamdani’s Refusal to Condemn ‘Globalize the Intifada’

Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, candidate for mayor of New York City, today sharply condemned democratic socialist and mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani for his refusal to denounce the phrase ‘Globalize the Intifada’. During an interview with The Bulwark podcast last night, Mamdani refused to condemn the phrase that is used to incite violence against Jews, which has since prompted widespread outrage.

“Yesterday when Zohran Mamdani was asked a direct question about what he thought of the phrase 'globalize the intifada', he dismissed it as 'language' 'that is subject to interpretation'. That is not only wrong - it is dangerous. At a time when we are seeing antisemitism on the rise and in fact witnessing once again violence against Jews resulting in their deaths in Washington DC or their burning in Denver - we know all too well that words matter. They fuel hate. They fuel murder. As the US Holocaust Museum so aptly said, all leaders or those running for office must condemn the use of this battle cry. There are no two sides here.

“There is nothing complicated about what this means. I call on all candidates running for mayor to join together to denounce Mr. Mamdani's comments because hate has no place in New York.”
