Governor Andrew Cuomo’s Statement on the United States of America’s Strike on Iran’s nuclear facilities
Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, candidate for New York City Mayor, today responded to the United States of America’s airstrikes on Iran:
“Number one, Iran cannot have nuclear capability. It's dangerous not only for the region, it's dangerous internationally, it's dangerous to the United States. Iran cannot have that capacity, and that is in everyone's best interest. I think the world is a safer place without Iran having nuclear weapons.”
The second issue is the way Trump went about this without consulting Congress, without consulting the normal congressional officials. Congressional officials have said that was a violation of the Constitution—it may very well be. You have to separate the actual bombing of Iran and ending their military and nuclear capacity versus the means and the process by which Trump did it. I don't support the way Trump did this. I do believe he should have consulted Congress.”
