Former Mayor Mike Bloomberg Endorses Andrew Cuomo for Mayor of New York City
New York, NY — Former New York City Mayor Mike Bloomberg today reaffirmed his endorsement of Andrew Cuomo for Mayor, citing Cuomo’s proven record of crisis management, fiscal discipline, and ability to deliver results for New Yorkers.
Bloomberg, who led the city for 12 years, praised Cuomo’s leadership experience and pragmatic approach to governing:
“Four months ago I endorsed Andrew Cuomo because I thought his management experience and government know-how made him the best choice for New Yorkers. I still do. And today, with early voting underway, I wanted to reiterate my support for Andrew Cuomo. Being Mayor of New York City is the second toughest job in America, and the next mayor will face immense challenges,” Mike Bloomberg said. “Andrew Cuomo has the experience and toughness to stand up for New Yorkers and get things done. I hope you will join me in supporting him.”
Bloomberg’s renewed support underscores the broad bipartisan coalition backing Cuomo’s campaign, which has emphasized restoring public safety, rebuilding affordable housing, and improving the city’s quality of life through data-driven management and accountability.
Cuomo welcomed Bloomberg’s endorsement, calling it “an honor to have the support of a mayor who knows firsthand what it takes to run this city.”
“I’m deeply grateful to Mayor Bloomberg for his support and his confidence in my ability to lead this city through these challenging times. Mike Bloomberg has always put results over rhetoric - he understands that leadership is about competence, management, and getting things done, not slogans or ideology,” Cuomo said. “This election is about the future of New York City: whether we choose experience and proven leadership or take a dangerous gamble on inexperience and extremism. The next mayor will have to restore public safety, tackle an affordability crisis decades in the making, and bring our city together after years of division.
“Mayor Bloomberg built a stronger, safer, more vibrant city through smart management and data-driven leadership. I share his belief that the job requires toughness, independence, and a steady hand, and that’s exactly what I’ll bring to City Hall.
I’m honored to have his continued support as we fight for the New York we know and love: safe, fair, and full of opportunity for all.”
The endorsement comes as early voting continues across the five boroughs ahead of Election Day on November 4.
