Cuomo Launches First General Election Ad: “Day One”
Watch the Ad here:
New York, NY – Andrew M. Cuomo, candidate for mayor of New York City, today released his first general election ad, “Day One,” focused on Cuomo’s proposals on public safety and getting mentally ill homeless off the streets, and his proven record of delivering results for New Yorkers — unlike Zohran Mamdani, Andrew Cuomo is ready to lead on Day One.
The ad opens with a playful AI-generated video of Cuomo fumbling at classic New York jobs, before pivoting to his central point: He knows what he knows better than anyone else – How to make government work, which is exactly what New Yorkers need now.
“While there are a lot of jobs I can’t do, I am ready to be Mayor on day one and deliver on the issues New Yorkers care about most,” Cuomo said.
Cuomo pledges to hire 5,000 new NYPD officers, working in partnership with community groups, while also addressing homelessness by moving people off the streets and into the care they urgently need.
This ad will air on broadcast and cable with a robust mid-six figure buy. It will also air on streaming and social media platforms.
“Day One” is also one of the first positive and most visible uses of AI in paid political advertising in the United States. Rather than focus on the risks of new technology, the ad takes a lighthearted approach—showing Cuomo poking fun at himself—while highlighting his real strengths. It also reflects his long-standing record of supporting high-tech investment and his commitment to attracting the industries of tomorrow, creating the jobs of the future right here in New York City.
A script of the ad is below:
Cuomo: I’m Andrew Cuomo and I could pretend I could do a lot of jobs…
Cuomo VO: But I know what I know, and I know what I don’t know.
And I do know how to make government work. I’ll hire 5,000 new cops to partner with
local community groups and keep our families safe.
And we’ll get the homeless off the streets and into the help they desperately need.
There are a lot of jobs I can’t do…
But I’m ready to be your
Mayor on day one.
