Cuomo Calls on Zohran Mamdani to Unequivocally Denounce “Globalize the Intifada”and Reject Movements That Glorify Violence

Cuomo Also Urges Increased NYPD Presence at Synagogues, Jewish Schools, and Community Centers Ahead of October 7th

New York, NY — Andrew M. Cuomo, candidate for Mayor of New York City, today issued the following statement ahead of the two-year anniversary of the October 7 terror attacks:

“As we approach the two-year anniversary of the October 7 terror attacks, we recommit ourselves to standing firmly against hate in every form.

Sadly, some are exploiting this moment to promote so-called ‘No Business As Usual — Escalate for Gaza’ demonstrations, laced with violent imagery and rhetoric. Let’s be clear: calls to ‘globalize the intifada’ are not abstract slogans — they are calls for violence against Jews. There is no justification, no context, and no moral equivalence that excuses that language or intent.

Zohran Mamdani continues to play word games instead of showing moral clarity. Today I again call on him - directly and unequivocally - to denounce this phrase and to reject any movement that glorifies violence or targets Jewish people.

New York must always draw a bright line: there is no room for hate, intimidation, or violence in this city. I urge the NYPD, the greatest police force on the globe, to increase security around synagogues, Jewish schools, community centers, and other locations identified as ‘targets’ by these organizers. Every Jewish New Yorker deserves to live and worship in peace. As Mayor, I will never equivocate when it comes to public safety or moral clarity. Our city’s strength is its diversity, but our unity depends on the courage to say no to hate — wherever it comes from.”
