Cuomo Announces the Launch of Hindus for Cuomo at Packed Queens Rally

"We need a leader who can advance our community and ensure safety and protection for everyone. Unfortunately, Mamadani's Hindu rhetoric has caused unnecessary division among us. Andrew Cuomo stands as the right choice, not just for Hindus but for all New Yorkers." - Dr. Dilip Nath, Democratic District Leader

Queens, N.Y. – Andrew M. Cuomo, candidate for mayor of New York City, today announced the formal launch of Hindus for Cuomo during a packed rally attended by more than 250 New Yorkers in the former governor’s home borough of Queens.

The grassroots group will hit the ground running, helping to bring out the vote in their communities during the next five weeks. Group founders cited the former governor’s leadership, management experience and record of results – including passing the strongest anti-hate crime and anti-discrimination laws in the nation –  in supporting Cuomo. They also contrasted Cuomo’s record with the inexperience of his main rival for City Hall Zohran Mamdani, who they said has a history of hostility toward the Hindu community.

Cuomo has visited more than a dozen Hindu temples and organizations in this race, discussing his plans to make New York a safer and more livable place for all and how to combat hate in all of its forms.

“New York’s greatest strength is its diversity and the Hindu community is a vital part of the fabric of this great city,” Cuomo said. “We all want the same things: A city working people can afford to live in, schools that work for all, and being able to live your life with dignity and without fearing for your safety in the community you call home. I know how to use government to achieve these goals and I thank these community members for their support and their trust in me. Together, we’re going to make sure that New York City’s greatest days are ahead.”

Dr. Dilip Nath, Democratic District Leader said: “This year's mayoral elections are pivotal for our city. We need a leader who can advance our community and ensure safety and protection for everyone. Unfortunately, Mamadani's Hindu rhetoric has caused unnecessary division among us. Andrew Cuomo stands as the right choice, not just for Hindus but for all New Yorkers. I urge everyone to cast their vote for him in the November elections.

Dilraj Batchu, Vice President of the Trinidadian and Tobagonian USA, said: “I am supporting Andrew Cuomo for NYC mayor because he has the expertise, knowledge and wisdom to run this city around and take it to the next level.”

Chhemang Lama, Democratic District Leader, said: “We need a mayor who can be trusted by Hindus across New York, so we can once again feel safe. Andrew Cuomo as our next mayor! He will stand against Hinduphobia as he has done in the past.”

Bhajan Sarker, President of the United Hindus of USA, said: “I have never voted for any Democrats, but this year for the first time I will vote for a lifelong Democrat, Andrew Cuomo, because we cannot trust Mamdani to lead our city, as he has extreme negative views against Hindus.

Dr. Dwijen Bhattacharjee, President, Hindu Buddhist and Christian Unity Council USA, said: “Our city is currently facing significant challenges, and there are growing concerns about community cohesion. It is crucial to consider electing Andrew Cuomo to provide effective leadership and ensure the safety and unity of our city.”

Prakash Chakraborty, Community Activist and Philanthropist, said: “The expert and compassionate leadership of Governor Cuomo during the most challenging time of the Covid-19 Pandemic has proven that he can be trusted to lead all New Yorkers on equal footing. He will surely bring Unity in Diversity during the most divisive time in NYC.”

Dr. Dhananjoy Saha, a research scientist, said: “Andrew Cuomo sees possibilities where others see problems. I endorse him to lead New York City with courage and clarity.”
