Governor Andrew M. Cuomo, candidate for New York City Mayor, today received the coveted endorsement of the Coalition for Community Concerns, a coalition of civic and business leaders, local activists and elected officials from northern Manhattan and the Bronx led by U.S. Representative Adriano Espaillat (NY-13).

The endorsement followed a months-long and multi-step process that included two candidate forums with top mayoral candidates and 150 community members, and a vote by members of the coalition.

U.S. Rep. Espaillat announced his endorsement of the governor Saturday during a joint appearance at a Mother’s Day celebration in the Bronx hosted by Assembly Member George Alvarez, who also endorsed Cuomo for Mayor.

“There is so much at stake for the city of New York,” U.S. Rep. Adriano Espaillat (NY-13) said. “We need a strong and proven leader who will work to bring solutions to the most pressing issues facing New York City – from affordability and public safety to protecting and defending our communities against the overreach of the federal government – Andrew Cuomo is the clear choice in the mayoral race. New York City must continue to be a beacon of hope and opportunity for all. This coalition is the best example of a community coming together to advocate for a better New York. I am grateful to the members of the coalition for their commitment to this process and for ensuring that issues that are front and center to their constituents in northern Manhattan and the Bronx were heard in the 2025 mayoral race.”

"I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Coalition of Community Concerns headed up by esteemed Congressman Adriano Espaillat, a trailblazer who has made history and is the embodiment of the American Dream,” Governor Cuomo said. “The Coalition put together a thoughtful, engaged, substance based process focused on a solution-oriented approach to how government can make lives better for working people -- not in theory, but in practice. Because that's what government is supposed to be about -- hard working men and women, the working class, the people without whom New York would not be New York, and I am honored to have their support. I am also grateful to receive the support of the broad coalition of local leaders from Northern Manhattan and the Bronx -- together, when I am Mayor, we will not just fight for, but deliver real progress—from expanding access to affordable housing and healthcare to protecting immigrant rights and creating pathways to good-paying jobs for the people of New York City.”

“I am proud to endorse Andrew Cuomo for mayor because he is the most qualified candidate in the race,” New York State Assembly Member George Alvarez, said. “His record proves that he is the best suited to tackle the challenges facing our city. From building more affordable housing to making life safer in the streets, the Bronx needs someone who can step up to the plate on Day One and start doing the job. We did it before, we can do it again, and we will when he is at City Hall.”

“The importance of arts and culture is pivotal for Harlem, the culture capital of Black America. We know that as mayor, Governor Cuomo will be a partner to the arts and culture community and for the restoration of funding that has been taken from our cultural institutions, especially libraries, cultural centers and small and large institutions that serve as a pillar of the Harlem community and beyond," Chairman and Co-Founder of Harlem Arts Alliance and Vice President of the Greater Harlem Chamber of Commerce Voza Rivers, said. “After meeting with Governor Cuomo in private and supporting the Coalition of Community Concerns, I am proud to endorse him for mayor of New York City.”

“As a long-standing transportation advocate, I’m proud to endorse Governor Andrew Cuomo for Mayor of New York City. He’s the only candidate who has meaningfully addressed the full for-hire vehicle industry — small, immigrant-owned businesses that provide critical transportation services in communities of color,” Transportation Advocate Cira Angeles said.  “We move New York, yet we’ve been over regulated and underrepresented for too long. Governor Cuomo understands the economic and social impact of our industry and is committed to working alongside us to protect jobs, support small businesses, and ensure our communities thrive.”

These endorsements follow other Bronx officials that support Cuomo for Mayor, including U.S. Rep. Ritchie Torres, former Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., Assembly Member Yudelka Tapia, and Assembly Member John Zaccaro Jr.

Throughout his career in public service, Governor Cuomo has been a champion for working New Yorkers. He raised wages for millions and protected the right to organize when the Supreme Court tried to break the back of the labor movement. Governor Cuomo increased access to healthcare, enacted the nation's strongest paid family leave program and expanded apprenticeships, vocational training, and workforce development programs. He also advanced the most substantial infrastructure program in a generation, including the Second Avenue Subway, the Moynihan Train Hall and the new Kosciuszko Bridge and the new JFK and LaGuardia Airports – all major projects built with union labor.
