This political season, the major dynamic among Democrats is an “ideological” contest between the new “far left” and party moderates. I think it is less ideological than primordial.
Andrew M. Cuomo, the 56th Governor of the State of New York, in today’s New York Daily News, wrote the following op-ed urging the City Council to override Mayor Mamdani’s veto of legislation creating a “buffer zone” around schools for protests to protect students amid this time of heightened political violence and rising antisemitism.
He endorses a plan my administration announced in 2020, showing that New York City has a future.
In the piece, Cuomo outlines his comprehensive five-point plan to confront gun violence head-on — combining stronger policing, investment in youth and jobs, expanded violence interrupter programs, gun buybacks, and precision enforcement. The op-ed argues that New York must move beyond ideology and denial to implement practical, proven solutions that restore safety and hope to the city.
