Thousands of revelers enjoy 36th annual Dominican Day Parade in New York

Cuomo estas, governor?

The Dominican Day Parade rolled up Sixth Ave. Sunday afternoon led by Bronx-born bachata star Prince Royce — and was preceded by an endorsement for Gov. Cuomo by the city’s Dominican leaders.

The 36th annual march started at noon at 35th St. and Sixth Ave. and proceeded up to 56th St. with thousands of revelers lining the route. This year's theme, “Our Youth, Our Future,” was backed up by a $104,000 contribution to Dominican youth programs through the parade’s scholarship fund.

“El Vacilon de la Manana” radio personality Shino Aguakate rode aboard the Daily News’ float.

Fabio Garcia said he and pal Chris Charles traveled from the Poconos to attend the parade, where they met up with their cousin Frankie Familia of New Jersey.

“We’ve been coming here for eight years,” Garcia said. “I’m really excited...it’s a beautiful day. It’s sunny out and we’re just having a blast.”

At a breakfast preceding the parade, local Dominican elected officials endorsed Cuomo for a third term and presented him with the Honorary Dominican Community Champion Award.

“(Cuomo) has made New York a national leader by fighting tooth and nail against Trump’s family separation policy, creating the Liberty Defense Project, launching the first-of-its-kind Excelsior Scholarship and making record investments in our public schools,” Congressman Adriano Espallat said.

According to the Pew Research Center, nearly 1.5 million Dominicans live in the U.S. and almost half that number call New York City home.

Also on Sunday, Cuomo announced a community center at the George Washington Bridge Bus Station in Washington Heights will serve as a Dominican cultural and educational center.
