New York’s AFL-CIO, Representing 2.5 Million Members, Endorses Governor Cuomo As The Only Gubernatorial Candidate Who Can Fight The Republicans All-Out Assault On Organized Labor And Hails His Leadership

New York, NY – New York State's American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations (AFL-CIO), has endorsed Governor Cuomo for reelection. The New York State AFL-CIO President sent an urgent message to all of his 2.5 million members that Governor Cuomo’s leadership was needed now more than ever as Republicans launch attacks on organized labor at all levels of the federal government. In the wake of yesterday’s Supreme Court 5-4 decision in the Janus case, Governor Cuomo is standing side by side with union leaders to let them know that he will continue to fight for their rights.

Mario Cilento, President of the New York State AFL-CIO said, “With the labor movement and the middle class under attack, it is vital that the people of New York have a battle tested leader with a track record of proven results to get things done. I am proud to announce the New York State AFL-CIO’s endorsement of Andrew Cuomo to serve another four years as our Governor.  When it comes to fighting for organized labor and the middle class, Andrew Cuomo has set a standard for every elected official in this country to follow.  From fighting for and delivering the $15 minimum wage law, to the nation's strongest paid family leave policy, deductibility of union-dues, and taking on Janus, working men and women have no greater champion for their cause.
